The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Sindh has issued a high alert across the province as heavy monsoon rains and strong winds are expected until July 25.
All district administrations, government departments and relief agencies have been directed to remain fully prepared to tackle any emergency.
According to PDMA Sindh Director General Syed Salman Shah, the Meteorological Department has predicted thunderstorms in several parts of Sindh from July 23 to 25 due to a strong monsoon system entering from the Arabian Sea.
He said heavy rainfall is expected in parts of Hyderabad, Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Sanghar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Matiari, Jamshoro, and Shaheed Benazirabad.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rain has been forecast for Ghotki, Kashmore, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Sukkur, and Khairpur, while thunderstorms are likely in Larkana, Naushahro Feroze, and Thatta over the next two days.
The PDMA Sindh chief warned that strong winds and lightning could damage weak structures, electricity poles, solar panels, and advertising boards. He said all relevant agencies have been instructed to take precautionary measures and remain prepared for possible emergencies.
He added that the PDMA has activated its monsoon emergency plan, while dewatering pumps and other essential machinery have been placed on standby for immediate deployment. Low-lying areas vulnerable to urban flooding and flash floods have also been identified to ensure a swift response if required.
Syed Salman Shah said that in case of water accumulation in any area, dewatering equipment would be immediately shifted to the affected locations. He urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather, stay away from electricity poles and damaged buildings, and strictly follow safety guidelines issued by government authorities.
