Work on Peshawar’s long-delayed Ring Road Missing Link project has been accelerated, with a target set to complete the project within 100 days and open it to traffic.
The project, stretching from Warsak Road to Nasir Bagh, is aimed at easing traffic congestion, improving connectivity and providing relief to commuters travelling through the city.
The completion of the Missing Link is expected to improve traffic flow in busy areas of Peshawar and make travel between different parts of the city easier. The project is also expected to facilitate motorists entering Peshawar from Islamabad and the motorway by providing an improved route through the city.
The Ring Road Missing Link will connect Warsak Road with Nasir Bagh, with links to universities at two points along the route. Bridges and other infrastructure being constructed as part of the project will help separate traffic flows and improve movement on busy roads.
Commuters travelling on Warsak Road have long faced traffic congestion during their daily journeys. The construction of the Missing Link and associated bridges is expected to ease these problems and provide smoother access to different parts of Peshawar.
A local resident welcomed the pace of construction, expressing hope that the project would be completed soon. The resident said the improved road infrastructure would help traffic move more smoothly, allow vehicles to pass with fewer interruptions and reduce the risk of accidents.
The resident also highlighted the difficulties caused by congestion on Warsak Road and said the completion of the project would make daily commuting easier. Ongoing construction of bridges and flyovers at other locations in Peshawar was also cited as part of efforts to improve the city’s traffic system.
The Ring Road Missing Link project has been divided into four packages, with a total cost of more than Rs9 billion. The first package has been completed, while work on the remaining three packages is underway. Authorities have set a 100-day target for completing the project, after which it is scheduled to open to traffic.
Construction work is also continuing at other locations to improve traffic flow in Peshawar, including projects linked to Kabootar Chowk and Ring Road flyovers. Their completion is expected to help reduce congestion at key points across the city.
The accelerated work on the long-delayed project has brought renewed focus to the completion of infrastructure schemes in Peshawar. Meeting the 100-day deadline will be key to delivering the planned improvements in connectivity and traffic management.
Once completed, the Ring Road Missing Link will provide a direct connection between Warsak Road and Nasir Bagh and improve access for traffic entering and passing through Peshawar. The project is expected to ease daily travel for residents and commuters across the city.
