A protest was held at Assembly Chowk in Peshawar against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) long march, according to reports on Monday.
What are the protesters saying?
The protesters said that the provincial government has left the people on their own for the last 13 years. They said they completely reject the government, according to reports.
They also complained that inflation has reached a high level across the province. Unemployment has also increased, they said.
The protesters said that the province is moving towards destruction since Sohail Afridi took charge as Chief Minister (CM).
They also said MNAs and MPAs are busy with their march and are not meeting the people.
The protesters claimed that PTI leaders have not even visited their workers who are in jail, reports add.
What complaints does the business community have?
The protesters said the provincial government is also deceiving the people and the business community.
They said traders are facing major losses because of the march. Billions of rupees worth of business takes place between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab. However, the closure of roads has badly affected trade.
They claimed that they have tried many times to meet the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM but could not get a meeting.
The traders and people have now joined hands to protest against the provincial government. They said MNAs and MPAs are not meeting the business community.
The protesters warned that they would hold protests across the province if the government failed to take action.
“Whose agenda does PTI want to serve?”
Federal Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal said yesterday that Pakistan needs peace, stability, development and economic recovery.
He questioned those marching towards Islamabad and asked them to think about whose agenda they were serving.
Speaking at an event in his home constituency of Narowal, Ahsan Iqbal said ending terrorism was a national duty. He said Pakistan was facing a difficult situation but needed peace and stability to move forward.
