Another phase of the Pink EV Scooter Scheme has been announced by the government of Sindh. It is aimed at improving transportation facilities and mobility for women across the province.

Sindh Information Department issued a statement and according to it the pink electric scooters will be distributed in Hyderabad on May 22.

They will be distributed under the provincial government’s women-focused transport initiative.

Sharjeel Inam Memon, Senior Sindh Minister, described the scheme as a revolutionary initiative for women.

He further said that it helped empower working women and female students.

The purpose of the EV scooter scheme was to provide women with affordable, safer and environmental-friendly transport facilities and services.

Beneficiaries under the program also receive helmets, training and road safety guidance.

The government of Sindh has gradually expanded the initiative in different cities as part of broader transport modernisation efforts.

These modernisation efforts also include the expansion of People Bus Service network and electric buses across the province.

The Sindh government has also decided to operate 500 electric buses in Hyderabad and Karachi.

In a meeting of the Sindh Mass Transit Authority (SMTA) board, the decision was taken. The meeting was chaired by the Sharjeel Inam Memon, Senior Sindh Minister.

The purchasing of 500 electric buses was approved by Sharjeel Memon under a private-public partnership model.

450 electric buses will be operated on the 25 routes in the capital of the province as per the plan that was approved in the meeting.

The remaining 50 buses will be moving on five routes in Hyderabad.

A green signal was also given by the board to establish five modern electric vehicle (EV) depots across Sindh.

Four depots will be Karachi and one in Hyderabad.

In the SMTA board meeting major discussions were held. This includes the modernisation and improvement of urban transport in major cities.
