PM Shehbaz back in Pakistan after official visit to Turkiye

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif returned to Pakistan on Sunday with his delegation after completing a two-day official visit to Türkiye.

During the visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz met Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and other senior Turkish officials. He also attended a Business-to-Business (B2B) conference and addressed a joint press conference with President Erdoğan.

The two leaders discussed ways to strengthen bilateral ties, increase trade and investment, expand defence cooperation, and exchanged views on regional and international issues of shared interest.

At the end of the visit, Pakistan and Türkiye reaffirmed their commitment to deepening their longstanding brotherly relationship and enhancing cooperation in trade, defence, investment, and other key sectors.

Earlier, PM Shehbaz Sharif said he was “honoured to meet my very dear brother, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in the historic city of Istanbul today.”

In a post on X, he said, “Our discussions covered the full spectrum of the Pakistan–Türkiye Strategic Partnership, with particular focus on trade, investment, defence cooperation, energy, connectivity, technology, regional peace, and people-to-people exchanges.”

“I thanked President Erdoğan for his warm hospitality. We also agreed to fully leverage the immense potential of our partnership to achieve our mutually agreed target of USD 5 billion in bilateral trade and to take the enduring bonds of brotherhood between Pakistan and Türkiye to even greater heights”, he added.
