Web desk: A high-level security meeting is underway under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, with the military leadership also participating.

According to sources, Field Marshal Asim Munir, senior members of the federal cabinet are also present in the high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Additionally, the chief ministers of three provinces, the prime minister of Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan have attended the meeting.

The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sohail Afridi, decided to skip the key security meeting, sources say.

The Prime Minister welcomed the participants of the meeting. He said that he had a telephone conversation with the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa yesterday, in which he congratulated him and assured him of all kinds of cooperation.

He said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is an important unit of the federal government, and the federal government is ready to cooperate with the provincial government in every possible way for the welfare and development of its people.

Due to the absence of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi in the meeting, he was represented by Muzzammil Aslam.

Attacks on Pakistan from Afghan Soil

The Prime Minister said that Pakistan has helped Afghanistan, which has been facing difficulties for decades, in every difficult time.

Pakistan has sacrificed thousands of precious lives in the war against terror and suffered economic losses worth billions of dollars.

Terrorist attacks on Pakistan from Afghan soil and the involvement of Afghan citizens in these attacks are worrisome, added the PM.

He said that the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, the Minister of Defence and other senior government officials have visited Afghanistan several times and held talks with the Afghan caretaker government to stop the use of Afghan soil for terrorism in Pakistan.

Pakistan has made every effort to stop infiltration from Afghanistan through diplomatic and political means.

He directed that all provincial governments, federal and provincial institutions should work closely together to ensure the early return of Afghans illegally present in Pakistan.

Under Field Marshal Asim Munir, Pak Army Has Proven Its Ability to Defend the Country: PM

The Prime Minister lauded the role of Field Marshal Asim Munir and his leadership in protecting the country.

Under the leadership of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, the Pakistan Army has proven that it knows how to defend the homeland, said Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

The Pakistani army, led by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, repelled the Afghan attacks, for which the entire nation pays tribute to him.

The Prime Minister said that the recent attack by Afghanistan and the attempts of the Khawarij to infiltrate Pakistan are worrisome; however, the brave forces of Pakistan responded to these attacks in a befitting manner.

Repatriation of Afghan Refugees

The meeting was given a detailed briefing regarding the repatriation of Afghan refugees.

The meeting was informed that the phased repatriation of Afghan refugees residing in Pakistan has started, and 1.477 million 592 Afghans have been sent back by October 16, 2025.

It was further informed that no additional time will be given to Afghan refugees, and their repatriation will be ensured soon.

The meeting was informed that only those Afghans who have a Pakistani visa will be allowed to stay in Pakistan. The number of exit points on the Afghan side is being increased so that the process of repatriation can be made faster and easier.

The meeting said that sheltering illegally staying Afghans or allowing them to stay in guest houses is a crime under the law, and the process of identifying such people is underway.

The Prime Minister directed that the elderly, women, children and minorities should be treated with respect during the repatriation of Afghan refugees.

He also said that the public should be made a partner in this process, and no one should be allowed to shelter illegal Afghan citizens in violation of government policies.

The Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the Chief Ministers of Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan and the representative of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts and paid tribute to the central role of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir in this regard.
