PM Shehbaz holds phone call with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian

The Prime Minister (PM) of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, held a telephonic conversation with the Iranian President, Dr Masoud Pezeshkian, on April 19.

Both of the leaders had a forty-five-minute duration call, discussing the ongoing regional situation.

PM Shehbaz thanked the Iranian President for sending the Iranian delegation to the Islamabad talks phase I.

The delegation of Iran included the Foreign Minister of Iran, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, and the Speaker of the Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, for the peace talks held in Islamabad between April 11 and 12.

Shehbaz Sharif told his counterpart about his engagements with the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkiye.

He briefed him on how these interactions have helped a lot to provide a gateway for a diplomatic platform.

PM Shehbaz said that these interactions might help in building a pathway for dialogue and diplomacy.

The talks can bring peace to the war-ravaged region, he said.

The Prime Minister of Pakistan also thanked the leadership of Iran for warmly welcoming Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and for listening to his ‘constructive conversation’.

PM Shehbaz assured Pezeshkian that Pakistan will remain committed to ensuring permanent peace, with its honest and sincere efforts.

Shehbaz Sharif also paid his respectful regards to the Iranian Supreme Leader, His Eminence (HE), Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei.

President Pezeshkian, while responding to PM Shehbaz, thanked him for his support and the efforts made by him and Field Marshal Asim Munir.

He embraced the efforts of Pakistan for peace and conducting peace talks in Islamabad.

Pezeshkian also assured that the relationship between both of the states will grow stronger in the coming days.
