Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has once again invited the opposition for dialogue to resolve issues.
Speaking on the floor of the House in response to points raised by the Opposition Leader, he agreed that the people of each province have the right on their resources.
The PM reaffirmed the government’s commitment to taking all possible measures for the progress and development of all four provinces.
The Prime Minister said Parliament is the collective forum of the elected representatives from all four provinces. He said the people of Balochistan have a rightful share in the Reko Diq project.
Recalling the 2010 National Finance Commission Award, he said Balochistan’s share was significantly increased. He added that about 73 billion rupees were allocated two years ago for the solarization of agricultural tube-wells in the province. He said the Gwadar-Chaman dual carriageway is also being completed with federal funding of over 300 billion rupees.
Regarding the fence along the Durand Line, Shehbaz Sharif said it was erected for security reasons and the expenditure incurred on it was fully justified. He said the security forces, law enforcement agencies and police are making unparalleled sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, particularly in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and their contributions deserve recognition and respect.
Earlier, the private media outlet reported that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will attend a US–Iran reconciliation ceremony in Geneva.
He will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, highlighting Pakistan’s continued diplomatic engagement in regional peace efforts.
The visit comes amid ongoing mediation initiatives in which Pakistan has played a facilitating role between Washington and Tehran.
Prior to this, PM Shehbaz wrote on X, “Amid ongoing intense mediation efforts by Pakistan, we are fully aware of an incessant misinformation campaign being waged by those who want to sabotage the peace deal. Setting aside the noise, we can confirm that a final, agreed-upon text of the peace deal has been reached and Pakistan is now working closely with both sides to finalise the next steps. Peace has never been this close as it is now.”
