Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed authorities to introduce urgent reforms in Islamabad’s government schools, focusing on infrastructure, curriculum, teacher training and student welfare.

The directives were issued during a high-level meeting chaired by the prime minister in Islamabad to review reforms in the capital’s public education system.

Shehbaz Sharif instructed officials to address all infrastructure-related issues in government schools on an emergency basis and ensure a safe learning environment for students.

He also directed the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) to develop a strategy to transform the organisation into an effective and efficient institution.

The prime minister called for the reactivation of a free lunch programme to ensure proper nutrition for students studying in government schools across Islamabad.

He further ordered the installation of smart boards in all schools as soon as possible to improve teaching and learning facilities.

During the meeting, Shehbaz Sharif directed Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal to resolve the issues faced by government schools in Islamabad within one week.

The prime minister said providing students with a safe educational environment was the government’s responsibility and stressed the need for swift implementation of the proposed reforms.
