A video allegedly showing an Islamabad police officer asking a citizen for a bribe at a checkpoint has gone viral on social media.
SSP Investigation Suleman Zafar took notice of the video and suspended the officer allegedly involved in seeking the bribe.
He also appointed ASP Nosherwan Minhas as the inquiry officer to conduct a transparent investigation into the incident.
SSP Investigation Suleman Zafar said the police would not tolerate corruption or the misuse of authority under any circumstances.
The inquiry will determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and establish whether the officer was involved in misconduct.

Earlier, the Islamabad Police introduced an Online Appointment System to streamline access to police services and reduce waiting times at Police Khidmat Markaz (PKM) centres.
Under the new system, citizens can book appointments online for a range of Police Khidmat Markaz services as well as driving licence-related services from the comfort of their homes.
To schedule an appointment, applicants need to visit the official Islamabad Police website, select the required service, and choose a convenient date and time for their visit.
According to Islamabad Police, dedicated appointment counters have been established at facilitation centres to ensure that citizens are served promptly upon arrival, minimising delays and improving the overall service experience.
The initiative is aimed at making public services more efficient, accessible, and hassle-free through digital technology.
