Applications for a Portuguese government-funded higher education scholarship are about to close on September 30, 2026.
The need-based financial aid programme, administered by Portugal’s Directorate-General for Higher Education (DGES), is intended to help eligible students meet the costs of higher education.
The opportunity is available to students enrolled in eligible undergraduate programmes at Portuguese higher education institutions, including the University of Porto.

Nationality and legal residence status can also affect eligibility.
What about Pakistani students?
Pakistan is listed among the countries referenced in the scholarship information, but Pakistani nationality alone does not establish eligibility for the DGES grant.
Under Portuguese rules, some foreign nationals may qualify if they meet specific residence or legal-status requirements.
Students considering the University of Porto should also take particular care of their status. The university states that students with International Student Status are not eligible for this particular study scholarship.
Pakistani applicants should therefore establish their Portuguese residence and student status before relying on the grant as a source of undergraduate funding.
