President Zardari pays tribute to nation, Armed Forces on ‘Marka-e-Haq’

President Asif Ali Zardari has issued a message paying tribute to the nation and the armed forces on the first anniversary of the “Marka-e-Haq’.  The President described the leadership, strategy and bold decisions of the Chief of Army Staff and the Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, as key to the success of the Marka-e-Haq.

He also appreciated the extraordinary skills and professional capabilities of the Chief of the Air Staff of the Pakistan Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu, and the “Shaheens” of the Pakistan Air Force.   He further stated that the complete operational readiness and strong defence capabilities of the Chief of the Navy, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, and the naval forces are a source of pride for national security.

In his message, the President said that Pakistan is a responsible and peace-loving state. By giving a strong but balanced response to enemy aggression, it has sent a clear message to the world about its defence capabilities.

He said that the issue of Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) should be resolved in accordance with United Nations resolutions, and Pakistan will continue to provide moral, political, and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri people.

President Zardari added that India’s attempt to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty is an act of “water terrorism,” stressing that water is a matter of life for millions of Pakistanis. He also stated that Afghanistan should not allow its territory to be used for terrorism against Pakistan or any other country in the region, and that the complete elimination of externally supported terrorism is essential for regional peace.

He further said that through the efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Pakistan has emerged as a symbol of balance and stability in the region. He noted that Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts for a peaceful resolution of the Iran–US conflict have been appreciated internationally. The President concluded that the Pakistani nation and armed forces remain fully prepared to face any challenge and defend the country.
