If PTI is serious, govt is ready for talks: PM Shehbaz

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif said that if Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is serious, the government is ready to hold talks with them.

Addressing the Federal Cabinet meeting in Islamabad today, he said harmony amongst all the political parties is important for progress and prosperity of the country.

Shehbaz Sharif recalled that he repeatedly made the offer for dialogue. He said if the PTI is ready for dialogue, the government is also prepared to sit with the party.

However, the PM made it clear that no blackmailing or unlawful actions will be tolerated under the pretext of dialogue. He stated that discussions should be based on legitimate matters.

The Prime Minister further said that the successful bidding of PIACL would help take forward the privatization agenda. He said Pakistan International Airlines Corporation Limited privatization is going to be the biggest transaction in the country’s history, for which the whole process was made transparent.  

Shehbaz Sharif said the conferment of Saudi award upon Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Syed Asim Munir is an honour for the whole nation.

Saudi Minister of Defence Prince Khalid bin Salman awarded the King Abdulaziz Medal to Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Asim Munir.

The ceremony took place during a formal visit, following the directions of the Custodian of the Haramain Shareef.

The honour was given to the Field Marshal in recognition of his outstanding leadership and distinguished service to the military.

Furthermore, the medal was awarded to him in recognition of his significant role in strengthening the cooperation. And a defence partnership between the two brotherly nations.

PAK-Saudi Relation

The high-level award reflects the deep, historical and strategic relations that exist between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan today.

Both leaders were of the view that they should cooperate closely with each other to achieve regional stability and fulfil common interests.

Meanwhile, officials noted that such exchanges reinforce the commitment to mutual prosperity and future growth within the Middle East.
