PTI MPA summoned by ECP for assets beyond means case

Dr Amjad Ali, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) MPA from Swat, has been summoned by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Islamabad, on 3 Feb 2026 for the assets beyond means case.

The notice states that discrepancies were found in Dr Amjad’s 2023-2024 Statement of Assets and Liabilities.

According to the ECP, this action is being taken under Article 137 of the Elections Act 2017 and the Election Rules 2017. And it is also linked to the provisions of the Constitution of Pakistan, 1973.

The notice further says that the matter will be heard on Monday, February 3, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the ECP Secretariat on Constitution Avenue, G-5/2, Islamabad.

Dr Amjad Ali has been instructed to appear personally or through his lawyer.

The ECP has also sent a copy of the notice to the Secretary of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Assembly to ensure that Dr Amjad receives it.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa parliamentary leader Shahid Khan Khattak has announced a boycott of popular digital media platform, Azaad Digital, on Thursday.

Azaad Digital has rejected Shahid Khan Khattak’s allegations, saying that people often take offence when the truth is spoken and shown. Adding that his claims are baseless.

Azaad Digital said it is an independent and impartial digital journalism platform that represents all sections of society, including political and social leaders.

The digital media platform alleges that it presents its views to the public in a neutral and factual manner.
