PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja has stated that September 27 will not be a one-day protest call, warning that party workers will remain in Islamabad until their objectives are achieved.
In a recent statement, Raja said the final strategy for the September 27 protest will be announced soon. He added that PTI is also planning to convene an All Parties Conference (APC) as part of its future political strategy.
Speaking about the provinces, he said that smaller provinces should be created so that people can receive better facilities and their rights can be ensured more effectively. He added that discussions on creating new provinces are legitimate, but no decision should be made until genuine representatives of the people are present in the assemblies.
However, Salman Akram Raja made it clear that PTI would not become part of any such initiative without taking Imran Khan into confidence. He further said that PTI’s demand is for Imran Khan to be provided medical treatment in a hospital and given access to his personal doctors. Commenting on Jamaat-e-Islami’s nationwide protest against rising petroleum prices, Salman Akram Raja said that Jamaat-e-Islami had not invited PTI to participate in tomorrow’s protest.
On the other hand, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has announced nationwide protests tomorrow, on Friday, against the recent increase in the petroleum levy, with demonstrations planned at more than 510 locations across Pakistan. The protests are expected to cause significant traffic disruptions in major cities, including Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad, as the party plans to block key roads and highways.
In Lahore, Jamaat-e-Islami has announced that major highways will be blocked from 4:00 p.m. The party’s main protest will take place at Cordoba Chowk in Mazang, while demonstrations are also planned on Ferozepur Road, Jail Road, Multan Road, and other major routes.
The central and provincial leadership of Jamaat-e-Islami will address participants at the protests in Lahore. In Islamabad, the main demonstration will be held at Stop No. 26. In Karachi, protesters are expected to block Shahrah-e-Faisal, one of the city’s busiest roads. The Swat Motorway is also expected to be blocked as part of the protest campaign.
