The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has directed all Deputy Commissioners across the province to install public complaint boxes in their offices within two days to provide citizens with an accessible mechanism for reporting human rights violations and lodging complaints against district attorneys.

The directive was issued by the provincial Law Department on the instructions of Adviser on Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Human Rights Aamir Javed.

According to an official communication, the complaint boxes must be installed at prominent and easily accessible locations within all deputy commissioners’ offices so that citizens can conveniently submit their grievances. To ensure timely implementation, the Law Department has also approached the Performance Management and Reforms Unit (PMRU), requesting it to assign tasks to all deputy commissioners through its online portal.

Under the instructions, deputy commissioners are required to submit compliance reports within two days, along with geo-tagged and time-stamped photographs confirming the installation of the complaint boxes. The PMRU will collect and consolidate reports from all districts before forwarding them to the Law Department, which will present the progress to the provincial adviser for review.
