The Vehari district administration has declared a public holiday on July 11 to mark the annual Urs of Baba Diwan Haji Sher, which will be observed over three days from July 9.
Deputy Commissioner Khalid Javed announced that all public offices across the district will remain closed on July 11 due to the religious event.
According to an official notification, examinations being conducted under educational boards and universities will continue as scheduled and will not be affected by the public holiday.
The administration also added that essential services, including administrative offices, healthcare facilities and security institutions, will remain operational and continue performing their duties throughout the holiday.
Earlier, Balochistan government had announced short-term summer vacations for all the pubic, and private schools in the province’s winter zone. The Secretary of School Education issued the notification on Monday.
According to the issued notification, all the public and private schools will remain closed from July 18 to August 2 in the cold areas of Balochistan.
The notification also confirmed the reopening of all the public and private schools on August 3 across the province.
Holidays policy for schools and colleges in Punjab
On the other hand, the Punjab government also announced its new policy regarding the holidays in schools and colleges across the province.
According to the Punjab government, the schools and colleges in Punjab will remain open for 190 days, which will reduce the holidays across Punjab.
As per the policy, the summer vacations will be reduced from 2.5 months to 1.5 months.
The purpose of the new policy is to enhance the students’ progress at the provincial level. The Private School Association also supported the newly introduced policy by the provincial government.
