The Punjab Charities Commission has directed all registered organisations to display their registration certificates at a visible place in their offices.
The commission said organisations must also display copies of the certificate at their branch offices. This rule applies to all offices besides the head office.
According to the commission, displaying the certificate is a legal requirement under the Registration Rules 2023.
The move is to make the legal status of organisations clear. It will also help donors and the public check whether an organisation is legally registered.
How can donors verify an organisation?
The Punjab Charities Commission said people can use the QR code on the registration certificate to check an organisation’s registration status.
This will help donors confirm whether an organisation is legally registered before giving donations.
People can also verify an organisation through WhatsApp at 0313-4995564.
For information and assistance, they can contact the commission at 042-99070044 or 042-99330162.
The commission had earlier reminded charities and welfare organisations that having a social media page does not count as legal registration.
It also directed organisations to complete their registration with the relevant authority before asking for or collecting donations.
