The Punjab government has announced advance payment of salaries and pensions for government employees and pensioners ahead of Eid-ul-Azha 2026, according to the reports on Tuesday.
According to an official notification, salaries and pensions for the month of May will be released on May 21.
The decision has been formally approved in view of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha 2026.
The Punjab Finance Department has issued directives in this regard. It has instructed all concerned institutions to make sure of immediate disbursement.
In addition to this, the State Bank and commercial banks have been directed to implement the decision in a timely manner. This step is expected to facilitate employees and pensioners with early access to funds before Eid.
Pakistan may face livestock shortage
The President of the All Pakistan Jamiat Al Quresh Meat Welfare Association and member of the Livestock and Dairy Development Board, Khurshid Ahmed Qureshi, recently showed concern over the quickly reducing number of animals in the country.
He has warned that the shortage could create serious problems for people during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha 2026.
He said that livestock numbers are falling quickly. It is creating a large gap between the demand and supply.
President Ahmed Qureshi also stated that prices of mutton or goat meat have gone above Rs3,000 per kilogram. This has put the meat out of reach for many ordinary citizens.
How many holidays expected on Eidul Azha 2026?
The Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council has shared the expected dates of Eid-ul-Azha 2026. The Secretary General of the Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council, Khalid Ijaz Mufti, predicted Eid ul Azha 2026 dates.
According to Khalid Ijaz Mufti, the new moon of Zilhaj 1447 AH is likely to appear on the night between May 16 and 17.
Mufti also confirmed the timing of the moon’s appearance, saying that it will likely appear at 1:01 AM according to Pakistan Standard Time.
