The Punjab government has announced a new high-tech security plan aimed at reducing crime and improving public safety in the province. The project will use advanced drone technology to help police respond faster to criminal activities.
This will help gather evidence more efficiently. The decision was approved under the direction of CM Maryam Nawaz, and has already started moving into process.
According to reports, the new security system will rely on automatic docking drones that can fly fast to the crime scenes after the information is received by the police about an incident.
These drones are expected to provide live video footage and collect important visual evidence. After completing the task, drones will automatically return to their assigned stations.
The government of Punjab is reportedly purchasing around 20 advanced drones from China for the Punjab Police. These drones are believed to strengthen law enforcement, especially in busy urban areas where quick response times are important.
Additionally, the technology may also help police monitor crowded places and track movements, along with coordination.
According to Security experts, drone systems can significantly improve policing because they allow authorities to observe large areas from the air within minutes.
In many countries, police departments already use drones for traffic monitoring, crowd control, search missions and crime investigations.
People believe this new plan could help Punjab modernise its policing system by using similar technology.
Overall, this technology will bring major changes to policing methods in Punjab, such as faster response times, quicker evidence collection, and better monitoring capabilities, that could help authorities control crime more effectively.
Punjab Police to handle cybercrime cases
On the other hand, the Punjab Police was given the authority to handle cybercrime cases within the province.
The Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, chaired a meeting in which she took the decision to provide complete protection to women and children on social media.
She assigned a new authority to the Punjab Police for handling cybercrime cases on social media platforms.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif has also approved a new department for the police, followed by the specialised crime division pattern to tackle cyber offences.
Under the new authority, the Punjab police will now be able to take cyber cases, and they also have the power to immediately act against any offence if committed within their jurisdiction.
