The Punjab government has announced a grant of Rs150 million for the Pakistan Hockey Federation.
The funds will be spent on promoting hockey at the grassroots level and modernising coaching standards.
On the special instructions of the Chief Minister of Punjab, the Government of Punjab has approved a substantial grant of Rs150 million (15 crore) for the revival of hockey in the country, talent development at the grassroots level, and coaching and technical development.
This important decision was taken during a Cabinet Committee meeting chaired by Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, which was attended by the Provincial Finance Minister, Secretary Finance, Secretary Sports, and other senior officials.

The Punjab government approved these funds in response to a formal request submitted by the Pakistan Hockey Federation.
The primary objective of the grant is to identify new talent across the country, organise grassroots development programs, and provide coaches with training according to the latest international standards so that Pakistan’s historic prestige in hockey can be restored.

President of the Pakistan Hockey Federation, Mohiuddin Ahmad Wani, expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the Pakistan Hockey Federation thanked the Punjab government for the timely financial assistance on behalf of the PHF President and other members of the management.
The spokesperson expressed special gratitude to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, and the provincial cabinet, stating that this grant would greatly help strengthen the country’s hockey infrastructure, improve the performance standards of players, and create new opportunities for young athletes.
