Punjab Housing Minister Bilal Yasin has reviewed security and administrative arrangements for Muharram processions and gatherings in Lahore.
During a meeting, Lahore Deputy Commissioner Captain (retd) Ali Ejaz briefed the minister on preparations for procession routes and places for religious gatherings (majalis). DIG Operations Faisal Kamran also shared details of the security plan for Muharram.
Officials said authorities have completed security arrangements around major procession routes. They also said participants will receive facilities such as langar, drinking water, and milk distribution points.
The briefing said officials will monitor procession routes through CCTV cameras. Security personnel will also be deployed at sensitive points to ensure safety.
Bilal Yasin instructed all departments to work in close coordination. He directed the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC), Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA), Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL), Rescue services, and other departments to stay fully prepared.
The minister said authorities will activate contingency plans to deal with any emergency at procession and gathering sites. He also said arrangements will be made in case of rain.
He added that, on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, officials have held meetings with religious scholars and peace committees across all districts to maintain peace and ensure a safe Muharram environment.
