The Punjab government is offering financial incentives to citizens for taking environmentally friendly measures under the Punjab Green Credit Programme. These include planting trees, recycling plastic bottles, and even using cycles to help control pollution.
Which activities can help you earn money with this scheme?
Under this scheme, you can earn green credits by doing environmentally friendly activities.
These activities include using bikes, electric scooters, reporting vehicles that are emitting excessive smoke, planting trees and even recycling plastic bottles.
How can you earn money with this scheme?
You can earn up to Rs2,500 in green credits if you collect 1 kilogram (kg) of empty plastic bottles.
Under this scheme, you can collect a maximum of 4 kg to be eligible.
This means up to Rs 10,000 can be earned if you collect plastic bottles to help with pollution under the said scheme.
How to avail the offer in Lahore?
In Lahore, two vendors are currently available for the purchase and collection of these plastic bottles. These bottles will then be sent for recycling.
What benefit will e-bike and scooter users get?
If you are an e-bike or scooter user, you can also earn green credits under this scheme. If you are eligible, you can receive these green credits for the purchase and use of electric bikes.
However, this will also depend on the programme’s conditions. Cycling and planting 10 trees is also on the list.
Report smoke-emitting vehicles
You can also help by reporting smoke-emitting vehicles. You can also report industrial units that are operating without zigzag technology, conserving rainwater, or constructing recharge wells.
How much money has already been given to people?
According to the reports, the programme currently covers 38 environment-friendly activities.
Additionally, Rs36.5 million has already been given to the citizens in payments under this scheme.
Out of the said amount, approximately Rs16.5 million was given during the last three months.
