The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast the arrival of the second spell of the monsoon season across Punjab. Rainfall expected from July 19 to July 24. The weather system is likely to bring thunderstorms, winds and heavy rain to many districts. Some areas could receive intense downpours over a short period.
According to the PMD spokesperson, several districts of Punjab are expected to experience rain accompanied by thunder and strong winds.

The weather department has also predicted rain in Lahore, Faisalabad, Chiniot, Bhakkar, Mianwali, Layyah, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Kot Addu, Rahim Yar Khan and surrounding districts during the same period.
Additionally, PMD has warned that Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot and Faisalabad divisions face an increased risk of urban flooding because of expected heavy rainfall. Residents living in low-lying areas have been advised to remain cautious and follow updates issued by local authorities, as they are highly vulnerable to flash floods.
The department has also stated that Murree and the Galliyat region, along with local streams and nullahs, may experience a sharp rise in water levels.
The PMD further stated that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed all relevant departments to stay prepared for the approaching weather system. Officials have been instructed to keep drainage systems operational, monitor vulnerable areas and respond quickly to any emergency caused by heavy rainfall.
On the other hand, previously, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasted heavy rainfall across several parts of the country next week as monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea move into upper and central Pakistan over the weekend.
In a press release issued on Friday, the Met Office said a western disturbance is also expected to approach the upper parts of the country on Monday.
