Web desk: Out of 56,000 transfer applications submitted by teachers across the province, most were rejected, according to the Punjab School Education Department.
Officials explained that most applications were rejected because of strict review procedures.
Of the 56,000 applications submitted across Punjab, more than 46,000 were turned down after being checked at various stages.
Approximately 28,000 applications were automatically rejected by the online system due to errors, missing information, or ineligibility.
Another 18,000 applications were checked by officials but rejected since they didn’t meet the required rules.
Out of the remaining 9,500 applications, only 152 teachers have received final approval for transfer so far.
The department has also given a deadline for the application verification process.
The verification of the applications will continue until September 6 & teachers who pass verification will get their final transfer order by October 15.
Transfer applications rejected
The massive rejection of the applications upset many teachers. Most of them had applied for transfer because of family responsibilities, health problems, and other concerns.
Teacher unions say the process should be more open and flexible, since every year thousands of teachers are left unhappy, even when they have genuine reasons.
They say this has left them uncertain about the concern related to their future postings.
Transfers are very crucial for them to balance their professional life along with their personal duties.
Government officials say the system is designed to ensure fairness, prevent misuse, and keep teachers in both urban and rural areas.
They also mentioned plans to upgrade the digital review process to make it quicker and more transparent, reducing the risk of unfair decisions.
Officials hinted that the next cycle may bring the revised guidelines in order to address the recurring complaints.
With thousands of educators applying every year, this process has become a larger administrative exercise in the education sector.
