Lahore: Work has officially begun on the Model Villages Project across Punjab under the vision of Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

As per details, in the project’s initial phase across Punjab, 469 villages will receive quality services, including clean water supply, drainage systems, children parks, footpaths and streetlights.

In this regard, a meeting was held that was chaired by CM Maryam, in which she issued directives to strictly monitor the development work and track progress in real time. During the meeting, she also ordered that sewerage lines be laid in green belts instead of roads.

It was shared that the first phase of the Lahore Development Project has been completed and the second phase is expected to be finished by April 30.

The CM also directed that the Punjab Development Project be completed in seven cities by April.

She further ordered the immediate release of the second installment of the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” housing scheme for homeless individuals.

Officials informed the meeting that around 700 houses are being constructed daily under the scheme, and areas facing unsafe drinking water issues will be prioritised for the installation of water filtration plants.

CM Maryam Nawaz’s kisan card boosts Punjab’s wheat outlook

Earlier, it was reported that Punjab’s fertile land is set for a strong wheat harvest this year, as the Kisan Card initiative launched by CM Maryam has transformed the direction of agriculture in the province.

The program restored farmers’ confidence, enabling large-scale purchases through easy access to credit.

In the scheme, the farmers have been provided Rs100 billion in loans, out of which Rs65 billion has already been utilised.

Farmers spent Rs47 billion on fertiliser purchases, leading to a historic rise in urea sales.

Punjab recorded a new landmark with 1.356 million metric tonnes of urea sold, marking a 37 percent increase compared to last year.
