Qatar Airways has introduced a new waiver policy for passengers affected by the ongoing crisis, offering flexible options including full ticket refunds, free rebooking, and rerouting.
Under the updated policy, travellers can opt for a full refund with no cancellation fee, regardless of ticket type, making it ideal for those who no longer wish to travel.
Alternatively, passengers can benefit from free rebooking, allowing up to two complimentary date changes for travel extended until 31 October 2026, applicable to bookings originally scheduled between 28 February and 15 June 2026.
For urgent travel needs, the airline is also facilitating rerouting, subject to availability, via alternative connections or partner airlines.
Refund eligibility and process
Passengers holding confirmed bookings within the specified travel window are eligible for either:
- Two free date changes, or
- A refund of the unused ticket value
Customers who booked directly through the airline can apply for refunds online by submitting their ticket details and selecting “flight cancelled by airline” as the reason.
A confirmation email is issued upon submission. However, those who booked via third-party platforms or travel agents must contact their respective providers, as the airline cannot process such refunds directly.
Refunds are generally processed within 28 days, though delays are expected due to a high volume of requests. Credit card refunds may take an additional billing cycle to reflect.
Expanded waiver policy
The airline has gradually extended its waiver period from late March to April, and now through 15 June 2026 ensuring broader coverage for affected passengers. Travellers who have not yet submitted requests are advised to contact the airline promptly.
Free rebooking details
The updated rebooking policy allows:
- Travel rescheduling up to 31 October 2026
- Up to two free changes
- Same origin, destination, and cabin class
- Rebooking on Qatar Airways or selected partner airlines
- Waiver of no-show penalties for missed flights due to the situation
Passengers can rebook through the airline’s website under “Manage Booking,” via call centres, or through their travel agents.
Due to limited flight operations and partially reopened airspace, travellers are advised to select rebooking dates at least 10–14 days ahead to improve chances of availability.
