Federal Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik has said that Qatar will continue supplying gas to Pakistan during the winter months. He said the country would receive enough gas in December and January.
Speaking at a convocation ceremony at a private university in Lahore, the minister said uncertainty around the Strait of Hormuz was one of the main reasons behind changes in global oil and gas prices.
He added that the situation was affecting the international energy market.

How is the government managing energy prices?

Ali Pervaiz Malik said Pakistan had successfully dealt with difficult global conditions over the past six months.
He said the government had kept the process of setting petroleum prices transparent despite changes in international energy prices and uncertainty in the global market.
The minister added that the government was also taking steps to provide relief to the public.

What relief is being provided to low-income groups?

The minister said the government was providing subsidised petrol to help people with low incomes.
He explained that the move was aimed at protecting poorer households from the impact of rising fuel prices in the international market.

Will gas supply remain stable during winter?

Ali Pervaiz Malik said gas supplies from Qatar were continuing and would remain sufficient during December and January.
He said arrangements were being made to maintain gas availability during these months when demand usually increases.
His statement comes ahead of winter when gas demand rises in both homes and industries.
The situation in the Strait of Hormuz and changes in global energy supplies also remain important factors affecting oil and gas prices.
