Heavy rainfall has flooded several parts of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, prompting authorities to impose a rain emergency and order the evacuation of residents from low-lying areas.
More than 87mm of rain has been recorded in Rawalpindi, with several areas receiving significantly higher amounts.
The district administration has announced a holiday for all government and private schools.
The Raja Bazaar, one of Rawalpindi’s busiest commercial areas, has also been inundated. Water has entered shops in parts of the market, while three to four feet of water has accumulated at several points along Jamia Masjid Road.
Authorities have issued a high alert to all relevant departments and directed them to remain on standby as heavy rain continues.
The water level in Lih Nullah has risen sharply following the downpour.
At Katarian, the water level has reached around 19.5 feet, while at Gawalmandi it has risen to approximately 13 feet.

- Golra: 131mm
- New Katarian: 124mm
- Khanna: 112mm
- PDM area: 89mm
- Saidpur: 60mm
- Pirwadhai: 58mm
- Katchery: 30mm
- Bokra: 29mm
Officials have warned residents in vulnerable and low-lying areas to take precautions and follow evacuation instructions where necessary.
Water levels at Khanpur Dam and Rawal Dam have also been gradually increasing following the heavy rainfall.
Several sectors of Islamabad have experienced heavy showers, adding to concerns about urban flooding and traffic disruption.
Authorities have placed relevant departments on high alert and are monitoring drainage channels and other vulnerable locations.
The latest spell of rain has caused flooding and water accumulation in several urban areas, while emergency teams are being deployed to respond to affected communities.
