Govt to unveil ‘Ramadan Relief Package 2026’ today: Rs10000 announced

The federal government is expected to announce its Ramadan Relief Package today, aimed at easing the financial burden on low-income households ahead of Ramadan 2026.

According to Pro Pakistani, a special meeting has been called at the Prime Minister’s House in this regard, where Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif is set to formally unveil the package. The initiative is expected to include measures to stabilise prices and improve access to essential goods during Ramadan.

Cabinet to review security and economic situation

Sources said the cabinet meeting will not be limited to the Ramadan package. Ministers are also expected to review the country’s political and economic situation.

An initial report on the recent suicide bombing in Islamabad’s Tarlai area is expected to be presented to the cabinet for briefing and review. The meeting is likely to focus on policy decisions amid ongoing security concerns and economic pressures.

Ramadan Bachat Bazaar planned in Lahore

Separately, authorities in Lahore have announced a Ramadan Bachat Bazaar to provide relief to citizens through discounted food items ahead of the holy month.

The Ramadan Bachat Festival will be held at Jilani Park from February 13 to 15, 2026, officials said. The initiative aims to help families manage household expenses by offering essential commodities at reduced prices.

Nigehban Ramadan package

The Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has also approved a “Ramadan Nigehban Package” of Rs47 billion.

The eligible applicants can apply for the programme via the online portal or by sending their CNIC number to 8171 or 9999.

In her post on X, Azma Bokhari said, “In the blessed month of Ramadan, no table will be empty and no deserving person will be left alone.”

She mentioned that 4.2 million deserving families will receive Rs10000 each. “Nigehban Cards” will be provided to needy people. “Maryam’s Guests” dining places will be installed across Punjab. Ramadan Facilitation Bazaars will be set up across Punjab.

Discounted essentials and food safety checks

The special stalls set across in Lahore will offer flour, ghee, pulses, sugar, rice, fruits and vegetables, along with other daily necessities. Prices will be closely monitored to ensure affordability.

A coordination meeting chaired by Punjab Food Authority Director General (DG), Asim Javed, reviewed arrangements for the event. He said strict monitoring would be in place to maintain food safety and quality standards throughout the festival.

In addition to discounted shopping, organisers said the event would also feature local culture. Moreover, it will also contribute in the family-friendly activities, offering visitors a mix of convenience and entertainment.

Authorities said providing public relief before Ramadan remains a government priority, with further measures expected in the coming days.
