The meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee for sighting the moon of the holy month of the Ramzan will be held in Peshawar on February 18.

The session will be presided over by Chairman of Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad. The final announcement about sighting the moon of Ramzan will be given by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad.

Zonal Committee Meetings

Besides the central meeting, the sessions of zonal committees will also be held at Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi and Quetta. The Ministry of religious affair has issued a notification in this regard.

PMD Prediction

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) in its prediction has said that the moon for the month of Ramzan is likely to be sighted on the evening of February 18, Wednesday. If sighted, the holy month of Ramzan is expected to begin on the Februaury 19, Thursday.

According to the data available from PMD’s Climate Data Processing Centre, astronomical calculations show that there is a high possibility of seeing Ramazan 1447 AH moon on February 18, i.e., the 29th of the Shaban month.

Birth of the Moon and Weather Conditions

Officials said that this new moon will be born on February 17 at 5:01pm. Weather conditions in most regions of the country are expected to be clear or partially cloudy on February 18th though, so the chance of visibility is good.

The department also shared expected final timings of sighting of moon in different parts of the country. It will be sighted at 6:58pm in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, 7:47pm in Balochistan, 7:24pm in Sindh, 7:13pm in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 7:08pm in Punjab and 6:53pm in Gilgit-Baltistan.
