In view of potential security threats across the city police and other security agencies have been placed on high alert while directives have been issued to ensure strict security arrangements during the 19th to 21st of the holy month of Ramzan.

On the instructions of Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO) Khalid Hamdani SSP Operations Malik Tariq Mehmood has issued an official letter regarding the matter.

The letter has been sent to all divisional SPs, the SP Security, circle officers and heads of police stations.

According to the directive instructions have been given to further strengthen security across the city particularly at sensitive installations, joint check posts, one-wheeling checkpoints and at mosques, imambargahs and minority places of worship during the holy month of Ramzan.

All divisional SPs have been instructed to check personnel deployed at checkpoints and other security points every two hours and brief them on the security situation.

Similarly orders have been issued to continuously monitor security at important government buildings, Nur Khan Airbase, Police Lines, schools, colleges, universities and other educational institutions while keeping the force on high alert.

The letter also directs that additional personnel be deployed at bus stands and busy transport terminals for enhanced surveillance. Security at all police offices, police stations and checkpoints has also been ordered to be further tightened.

SP and DSP Headquarters have been instructed to keep security duties at Police Lines on high alert and appoint an officer for 24-hour duty who will check security every hour and submit reports.

Furthermore, during Ramzan, adequate security personnel have been ordered to be deployed at Ramzan facilitation bazaars, charity food distribution points, shopping malls and other crowded places.

The letter also instructs that personnel deployed at checkpoints set up to prevent one-wheeling after Sehri and Iftar be fully briefed to avoid any untoward incidents.

The SP Security has also been directed to personally review security arrangements at the district courts, the New Judicial Complex, the Anti-Terrorism Court and the Lahore High Court benches in the district.
