LAHORE: The Punjab Local Government Department, in partnership with NADRA, has introduced the Civil Registration Management System (CRMS) application.
Punjab Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafiq officially launched the CRMS app, which allows online registration of births, deaths, marriages, and divorces.
The Punjab minister stated that citizens can now complete these registrations from home using the e-registration facility. Once connected to NADRA’s database, the details will automatically update in citizens’ records.
Zeeshan Rafiq noted that an agreement between the Local Government Department and NADRA enabled the system’s development, which was completed in just a few months. Users will also be able to obtain certificates directly through the app.
He termed the initiative as a key achievement under Maryam Nawaz’s Digital Punjab Vision, stating that Punjab is advancing alongside developed countries through modern technology.
The minister added that the system will ensure accurate data collection by properly recording births, deaths, marriages, and divorces, and will be linked to union councils throughout Punjab.
NADRA Simplifies CNIC Address Update Process
The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) issued new guidelines for citizens seeking to update the residential address on their National Identity Card (CNIC).
According to a NADRA spokesperson, the process for changing an address has been simplified to help people keep their records accurate and up to date.
The spokesperson stated that applicants must provide valid proof of residence to complete the update.
For address verification, electricity, gas or water bills registered under the applicant, spouse, or parents will be accepted.
NADRA officials stated that citizens can visit any nearby registration centre with the required documents, where staff will assist them throughout the entire address-update process.
The authority added that the procedure has been streamlined to be faster and more transparent. This helps people ensure that citizens face no delays or inconvenience.
Additionally, a domicile certificate, property ownership documents, a housing society allotment letter or a verified rent agreement can also be submitted as evidence.
NADRA has advised citizens to visit any of its nearest registration centres nationwide with the required documents. At these centres, the staff will guide them through the address change procedure.
