Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced a major package worth 23 billion rupees for the development of the Kacha area, improvement of law and order, and increase in employment opportunities, which includes multiple projects in infrastructure, education, health, and security.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister also announced the launch of the “Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar” program and directed that 14,500 acres of government land be provided to the people of the Kacha area so that they can earn livelihoods through agriculture.
She said that for the first time, no major incident has occurred in the Kacha area during the past five months, and for the first time in history, the writ of the government has been effectively established.
Under the announced package, schools, hospitals, roads, and bridges will be constructed at a cost of 23 billion rupees, while 7.1 billion rupees have been allocated for law and order, 13.9 billion for social infrastructure, and 1.7 billion for other projects.
The Chief Minister also directed the provision of transport facilities, clinic-on-wheels, mobile veterinary hospitals, and laboratories in the Kacha area. Along with this, a 24-hour surveillance system is being introduced through modern solar-powered drones, while police vehicles and check posts will also be linked with Safe City cameras.
In the education sector, approval has been given for the construction and rehabilitation of 65 schools, establishment of 16 new schools, and 2 girls’ colleges. In addition, 6,551 female students will be given school meal milk packs, 300 students will receive Honhaar scholarships, and 300 will be provided laptops.
Regarding infrastructure, 27 projects comprising 108 kilometers of soil and 144 kilometers of roads will be completed, while model village projects, sewerage, drainage, and sports projects will also be initiated. Furthermore, a skills development program worth 125 million rupees will also be launched.
NADRA registration facilities will also be provided in the Kacha area so that citizens can easily obtain computerized identity cards and B-forms.
Under security measures, a special plan has been prepared for the return of illegal weapons, under which those submitting weapons will be compensated according to their type, and this process will be digitally monitored.
The Chief Minister has also imposed a ban on the cultivation of tall crops along the main roads of the Kacha area to reduce security risks.
In her address, Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that the people of Kacha also have the right to development and prosperity like other areas of Punjab. She expressed her resolve to transform the Kacha area into a safe, model, and developed region where people can earn respectable livelihoods.
