The Punjab government has launched the Apni Chhat, Mehfooz Chhat 2026 programme, offering interest-free loans of up to Rs1 million to help homeowners repair, strengthen, or expand their existing houses.
Under the housing initiative, eligible applicants can obtain either a Rs500,000 or Rs1 million interest-free loan, depending on the nature of their home improvement project.
Homeowners seeking to repair roofs or strengthen the structure of their existing houses can apply for a Rs500,000 loan, repayable over nine years with a monthly instalment of Rs4,700.
Those planning to construct a second storey or expand their homes can apply for a Rs1 million interest-free loan. The repayment period is also nine years, with a monthly instalment of Rs9,300.
Step-by-step guide to apply online
Applicants can submit their online applications via the official Apni Chhat Mehfooz Chhat portal at acag.punjab.gov.pk. They must register on the portal and provide the required personal and property details to complete the application process.
Citizens who prefer offline registration can also submit handwritten applications.
Those unable to use computers may submit their loan applications at the offices of the Deputy Commissioner (DC), Assistant Commissioner (AC), or the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA).
Earlier, the Punjab government launched the Chief Minister Pink Salt Value Addition Financing Scheme, offering interest-free loans of up to Rs40 million to promote value-added pink salt products, boost exports, and create employment opportunities across the province.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz formally launched the scheme digitally, describing it as a landmark initiative aimed at transforming Punjab’s pink salt reserves into a major source of industrial growth, job creation and foreign exchange earnings.
Under the scheme, entrepreneurs and investors will be able to obtain interest-free loan for businesses involved in pink salt processing, grinding, refining, cleaning, packaging and the production of value-added products. The loans will be repayable in easy instalments over five years.
The government also announced the establishment of a 110-acre Pink Salt Mineral Processing Zone near Qaidabad in Punjab. More than 200 industrial units are expected to be set up in the zone, alongside a Business Facilitation Centre and a model retail outlet to support investors.
