Saba Qamar has shared details of what she described as a paranormal incident on the set of her latest television drama, Muamma.

Speaking during an appearance on a Ramzan television programme, the actor said a member of her team experienced something unusual while shooting was underway.

The incident, she said, left members of the cast and crew unsettled and led to discussions about whether the shooting location should be changed.

What happened on set?

According to Qamar, the incident involved her make-up artist during a break in shooting. She said he had stepped aside to perform wuzu before offering prayers when something unexpected happened.

She told the show’s host that the make-up artist felt he had been struck from behind, even though no one was visible at the time. She claimed that she witnessed it herself.

Qamar suggested that unseen forces could have been involved and said some people believe such experiences may occur if humans unknowingly enter spaces inhabited by jinns.

The actor added that the episode caused concern among those present at the set. She said the team had already completed around half of the shoot when someone suggested that they should relocate.

Despite this, she said she was determined to continue shooting.

Saba Qamar’s statement

“Our make-up artist. He went to perform wuzu to offer prayer. While doing wuzu, he got slapped from behind.”

The show host asked whether she saw anyone.

Saba Qamar replied, “I didn’t. She saw something, but also saw nothing,” Qamar said, gesturing toward her face.

“I didn’t see that. I mean, I saw something. But I didn’t see this. But it was there, and it wasn’t”, she replied.

“The whole set was scared. And after that, everyone said, we had done 60 per cent of the work. I think 50-60 per cent. And after that, all the artists together said, no, let’s change the location.

Now, the amount of work I had done, I said, whether it’s Manjulika or Tanjulika, I will definitely complete the shoot.

“I think no one is more evil than a human being. You had grown your nails. For ghosts. I don’t get scared.”

The host questioned, Why don’t you get scared?

Saba answered that she had gone beyond ghosts. And faced many things in life.

A light exchange on air

During the programme, host Tabish Hashmi responded with humour, saying he would be just as frightened if a jinn kissed him instead of slapping him.

The exchange drew laughter, but the actor maintained that the incident had genuinely disturbed members of the production team.
