Actress Sarah Khan has spoken out after her husband, Falak Shabir, faced immense backlash for “requesting” Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz to ban short dresses for women in public.

In an Instagram story, she argued that “a healthy society is built on values, dignity, respect, and responsibility. When behaviour that undermines these principles is normalised and celebrated, it affects everyone, not just one group.”

Sarah Khan added that the “true meaning of feminism is empowering women with dignity, respect, strength, education, and purpose while staying connected to the values that define our society.”

Earlier, addressing CM Punjab, Falak said, “As a father of two daughters, I humbly request to Madam CM Maryam Nawaz, please make a law against those who wear short dresses in public places, bazaars and streets, otherwise we will all be destroyed culturally.”

Following his Instagram story, the singer faced criticism on social media.

Some social media users questioned whether he currently lives in Pakistan, noting that Sarah and Falak are frequently seen holidaying in Europe with their daughters. Others criticised him for sharing a photo of the teenagers on his Insta account.

Last month, the couple welcomed their second daughter, Raniah Falak.

Sarah shared that her heart now holds “double the love” with the arrival of their second daughter. She also explained that the family chose to keep the first few moments private, so they could fully cherish and celebrate the occasion together before sharing the news publicly.
