Security forces carried out an intelligence-based operation in Spinwam area of North Waziristan, killing four terrorists, including a key terrorist commander, security sources stated.

According to security sources, the killed commander identified as Umar alias Jan Mir alias Tor Saqib was reportedly carrying a bounty of Rs3 million on his head. The killed terrorist was a major mastermind behind attacks on security forces and civilians.

He had also established underground bunkers, tunnels, and explosive traps around the Bobali Mosque area in Spinwam, the sources added.

Yesterday, security forces successfully conducted a major operation in North Waziristan, resulting in the killing of 28 Khawarij and the destruction of key hideouts.

According to the sources, security forces conducted a major counterterrorism operation in the Bobali area of North Waziristan, resulting in the killing of an estimated 28 militants.

The operation was conducted at 1:30 PM on May 20, stating that troops had recovered 12 militant bodies along with two weapons during clearance operations. In addition, two armed suspects were reportedly intercepted by troops.

During the operation, two terrorists were arrested along with weapons. Security forces foiled a major terror plot by recovering and detonating 11 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) during the search operation.

After clearing the Bubli area of terrorists, the security forces also destroyed their secret underground bunkers.

The operation to demolish terrorist centres and key hideouts is ongoing to completely eradicate the network of militants. A sanitisation operation is still underway in the area, and security forces remain on high alert in view of any possible threat.

It is worth mentioning here that the Pakistan Armed Forces had killed between 20 and 22 militants during an ongoing operation under the Brigade and 7th Division, according to a field update released late Tuesday night.

The latest operational report stated that troops recovered nine bodies of militants along with two weapons and shifted them to the Brigade Headquarters. Ground troops and clearance teams also spotted three more bodies in the area during the operation.

Security personnel recovered nine improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and three mortar rounds from a militant hideout and later destroyed them through bomb disposal teams.
