Shalimar Express bogies restored

The bogies of the passenger train Shalimar Express, which was involved in an accident in Bahawalpur district, have been successfully placed back on the track. According to railway officials, the train has been shifted to Samasatta Railway Station, while the affected section of the railway track has been cleared. Officials said that train operations have resumed after the track was cleared, and the railway system is now functioning normally.

Meanwhile, railway officials said that the train’s brake bogie will be replaced before the Shalimar Express resumes its journey. The train will depart after a new brake bogie is installed. Officials further said that all necessary measures are being taken to minimise inconvenience to passengers and ensure the smooth and normal operation of train services.

It is worth mentioning here that yesterday a coal-loaded freight train also met with an accident at Kotri railway station in Sindh, leaving a railway employee dead and causing significant damage to the railway infrastructure. According to railway officials, five bogies of the freight train derailed on the up-main track. The deceased railway employee had boarded the freight train while it was travelling from Kotri to Hyderabad.

The accident also damaged thousands of tonnes of coal being transported by the train, while several feet of railway track were uprooted. Following the incident, the up-main track was completely closed, disrupting train operations. Railway staff and heavy machinery have been dispatched to the site, and efforts are underway to clear the derailed bogies and restore the damaged track.
