In Sindh, while bringing changes to the transport system, every vehicle owner has been given a deadline of June 30, and route permits and fitness certificates have been made mandatory.
According to details, the Sindh government has ordered to make all route permits and vehicle fitness certificates completely digital across the province in order to modernise the transport sector and eliminate fraud.
Provincial Minister for Transport and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, has set a deadline of June 30, 2026, for this process.
The provincial minister said that every vehicle owner and transporter will be provided with verifiable and online-available documents.
Through the digital system, the way for manipulation and fraud in manual papers will be closed, and with the use of modern technology in the transport sector, citizens and transporters will be freed from making rounds of offices.
Sharjeel Inam Memon, while issuing strict instructions to all relevant institutions of the Transport Department, has said that after June 30, all manual (paper-based) route permits and fitness certificates will be considered ineffective, and only digital documents will be acceptable.
Field offices have been instructed to complete 1,000 entries on a daily basis so that the target can be achieved within the stipulated time, and all transporters should be informed in time so that they can immediately start their registration process.
The provincial minister has made it clear that after the deadline of June 30 ends, strict legal action will be taken against vehicles that do not have digital documents.
The purpose of this step is to bring transparency in the transport system and to provide better travel facilities to citizens.
