Deputy Commissioner announces restoration of transport in Islamabad

Transport resumes fully across Federal Capital after DC approval

The Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad has announced the restoration of transport operations across the federal capital, allowing all types of public and goods transport to enter the city.

According to the official statement, bus stands throughout Islamabad have been reopened to facilitate commuters and ease travel disruptions. However, the Faizabad bus terminal will remain closed until further notice.

Authorities have not yet specified a timeline for the reopening of the Faizabad terminal, indicating that the decision will depend on prevailing conditions in the area. The move is expected to bring relief to passengers and transporters after recent restrictions, while officials continue to monitor the situation closely.

It is worth mentioning here that earlier, the motorway from Lahore to Islamabad and Rawalpindi, as well as public transport on the Grand Trunk Road, had also been suspended.

As per media reports, travel has become difficult for people heading from Lahore to Islamabad and Rawalpindi after the closure of the motorway and GT Road, which has also led to the suspension of bus services. Stranded passengers have now turned to trains as an alternative.

Commuters viewed they are facing serious difficulties due to road closures, as both the motorway and GT Road remain shut. Many citizens are now preferring train travel due to the lack of other transport options.

One passenger said he had travelled from Islamabad to Lahore but is now facing severe problems returning as bus services have been suspended.
