Sindh warns private schools against unapproved fee increase

The Sindh government has taken strict notice of private schools that are increasing fees without approval, according to reports on Friday. It has warned that schools which are breaking the rules could have their registration suspended or cancelled.

Additional Director General of Private Institutions, Sindh, Professor Rafia Mallah, has issued a notice to all private school heads.

The department said that it has received complaints that some schools are charging parents more than the approved tuition fee. It also said that some of the schools are collecting extra or hidden charges.

According to the notice, private schools cannot charge any fee other than the approved tuition fee without permission from the registration authority. Doing so is against the Sindh Private Educational Institutions Rules.

The government has directed all private schools to charge only the approved fees. Schools have also been told to display the approved fee details on their notice boards and at the reception.

A copy of the approved fee structure should also be provided to parents if they ask for it, according to the details.

The notice says schools must not collect any hidden or extra charges from parents. It warned that legal action will be taken against schools that do not follow the rules. Their registration may also be suspended or cancelled.

The Sindh government has also directed all unregistered private schools to apply for registration within 15 days through the official online portal.

It also asked people planning to open a school to make sure they meet all government requirements before applying for registration.

Schools that do not meet the required standards will not be registered. If needed, such schools may be closed, and their students will be shifted to nearby schools.
