The Sindh Education Ministry has formally approved the academic calendar for the 2026-27 school year, detailing the commencement of the academic year, examination timelines, and holiday intervals including the schedule for summer and winter holidays
This approval was granted during a steering committee meeting presided over by Sindh Education Minister Sardar Ali Shah.
The committee has announced summer vacations from June 1 to July 31, 2026, and winter vacations from December 21 to December 31, 2026.
Academic year to begin from April 1
Additionally, the academic year is set to begin on April 1, 2026.
Enrollment for grades 9 and below will be available from March 1 to March 31, 2026.
Examinations for grades 9 and 10 are scheduled to occur between March 30 and April 15, 2026.
The results for grade 10 will be disclosed on June 1, while the results for grade 9 will be made public on June 15, 2026.
For grade 11 admissions, which will adhere to the Central Admission Policy, the application period will be from June 1 until the final week of July 2026.
Examination updates for students
Examinations for grades 11 and 12 are planned to take place from April 15 to April 30, 2026. The results for grade 12 will be announced on June 15, and for grade 11 on July 1, 2026.
Furthermore, students in grades 1 through 3 will advance to the subsequent grade without the requirement of examinations, whereas examinations for grades 4 to 8 are scheduled to take place from March 1 to March 15, 2026.
Eid-ul-Fitr 2026 holidays announced
Earlier, government officials declared holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr 2026 and the upcoming spring season in Pakistan. As per the notification, Punjab University will be entirely closed from Friday, March 20, 2026, to Monday, March 23, 2026, in observance of the Eid-ul-Fitr 2026 holidays.
Throughout these four days, all teaching and administrative departments, offices, institutes, centres, affiliated colleges, and schools will halt regular operations.
Academic activities are set to commence on Monday, March 30, 2026.
According to the notification, the consecutive holidays will provide students with the opportunity not only to celebrate Eid but also to rest and prepare academically before classes resume.
