The Sindh Livestock and Fisheries Department has issued an emergency warning, asking fishermen to avoid going into the deep sea on August 1 and 2 due to expected bad weather and rough sea conditions.
A department spokesperson said the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) had warned of stormy weather at sea, prompting the department to issue the alert.
Authorities have asked fishermen already at sea to return to the coast immediately. They have also directed boats and vessels near coastal areas to move to safer locations.
The Fisheries Department has instructed its officials to take all possible measures to protect fishermen and their boats.
The department warned that authorities would take strict action against anyone who ignored the government’s instructions. It also asked fishermen to contact the relevant authorities immediately in case of an emergency.
The ban on deep-sea fishing will remain in effect until further notice.

Earlier, The Government of Sindh has approved a fuel subsidy package of Rs515 million for fishermen, according to reports on Wednesday. The step is expected to support them due to rising diesel prices.
The decision was taken in a cabinet meeting chaired by the Chief Minister (CM) of Sindh, Murad Ali Shah.
The chief minister said this subsidy is a one-time payment. It will cover two months of fuel costs. He said that high diesel prices have reduced fish production by 20 per cent. This has also affected the income of many workers, according to reports.
