Two members of Sri Lanka’s Under-19 cricket team have been arrested in Colombo after being accused of secretly filming women in a hotel bathroom, an incident that has drawn strong condemnation from both the team management and Sri Lanka Cricket.

The case emerged from the Narahenpita area, where female hotel guests reported that someone was attempting to record them while they were bathing.

During the inquiry, police became suspicious of the two young cricketers and alleged video recordings were later discovered on their mobile phones.

Authorities are now investigating whether the footage had been shared online. The accused players were presented in court following their arrest and were granted bail of 500,000 Sri Lankan rupees each.

However, they have been directed to appear again on May 25. Police have also confiscated their phones to examine if they were involved in any similar incidents in the past.

Although such matters typically prompt swift disciplinary action, Sri Lanka Cricket is currently dealing with internal instability and financial challenges. In recent days, several former officials have been removed, and a new committee has been formed.

Amid this uncertainty, no official suspension has been announced so far, but the future of both players appears to be at serious risk.
