Police foiled a suspected suicide attack on the Manji Khel Police Checkpost in Tank district after responding swiftly to the threat, according to preliminary reports.
Initial information suggests that a vehicle loaded with explosives attempted to ram into the wall of the police checkpost. However, police personnel acted promptly, preventing the suspected attacker from carrying out the assault.
Sources said a heavy exchange of fire erupted between police and armed militants following the attempted attack. During the operation, one militant and the suspected suicide bomber were killed.
Authorities have yet to officially confirm the number of casualties or release further operational details. A search and clearance operation is underway in the area, while investigations into the incident continue.
