The Punjab government has announced a new digital system to monitor all housing societies across the province, according to reports on Thursday.
Punjab Housing Minister Bilal Yasin shared the decision during a high level meeting. The minister said every housing society will be monitored through a central Housing Society Management System.
He said that the system will help make sure all societies follow the law and improve government oversight of housing projects.
Bilal Yasin also said that solving the problems faced by people living in illegal housing societies is one of the government’s top priorities.
He warned that strict action will be taken against developers and housing societies that do not register under the new system.
The government is also linking the Housing Society Management System with NADRA verification services, digital land maps, and e-registration facilities.
The minister said this will help prevent fraud, make it easier to verify property ownership, and improve the security of property transactions.
The minister also announced that the old file system for buying and selling plots has been abolished in Punjab.
The government will introduce Green Property Certificates instead. He said the new system will make property ownership safer and more transparent.
Punjab makes building fitness certificates mandatory
Recently, the Punjab government has introduced a new rule for private schools to improve the safety of school buildings, according to reports.
Under the new policy, every private school must obtain a building fitness certificate before getting registered or renewing its registration.
The decision was made after recent incidents in Kahna and Baghbanpura raised concerns about the condition and safety of private school buildings. The government said that the new policy is meant to help prevent such accidents in the future.
According to the new rules, schools must get a building fitness certificate from a civil engineer registered with the Pakistan Engineering Council or from an approved engineering company.
