The Sindh Education Department has decided to restore a six day working week in all public and private educational institutions across the province from August 1. Before this, some rumours suggested that the summer vacations would be extended in Sindh.
Summer vacations 2026 extending in Sindh?
Prior to this, there were some rumours that the summer holidays 2026 for Sindh schools would be extended; however, the latest notification shows that this will not be the case.
According to an official notification, all government and private schools will now remain open from Monday to Saturday for regular classes. Sunday will be the weekly holiday.
The notification said that the new schedule will take effect from August 1. All educational institutions will follow the six day working week.

Punjab summer vacations 2026
Meanwhile, summer holidays in Punjab schools may be extended until September 1 because of heavy monsoon rains and flooding in different parts of the province.
The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has recommended that schools in flood affected areas should not reopen instantly.
According to reports, the proposal has been sent to the Punjab School Education Department for final approval. A final decision will be made after the situation is reviewed.
If the proposal is approved, students will get one extra week of summer holidays. Earlier, schools were expected to reopen on August 24, 2026.
PMD warns of heavy rain, urban flooding
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned that Karachi and many parts of Sindh are likely to receive heavy rain and thunderstorms over the next few days.
The department said that some of the areas could also face urban flooding as a strong monsoon system moves towards the province.
According to the PMD, a deep depression that formed from a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal is now over Odisha and Chhattisgarh in India. The weather system is expected to affect Sindh from July 31 to August 2.
During this period, rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds are expected in Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Sujawal, Thatta, Tando Muhammad Khan, Hyderabad, Matiari, Jamshoro, Nawabshah, Naushahro Feroze, and Dadu.
The PMD also said that Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Sukkur, Ghotki, Kashmore, Larkana, and Karachi are likely to receive rain and thunderstorms.
