Govt to seek review of Supreme Court order on Imran Khan

The government, on Tuesday, has decided to approach the Supreme Court for a review of its order regarding PTI founder Imran Khan.

The decision was taken after a high-level consultation following the Supreme Court’s order. Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar confirmed that the government will file a review petition.

He said the government wants clarification on different parts of the court’s order.

Govt reviewing court order

Azam Nazeer Tarar said the government is reviewing the detailed decision. Legal experts and relevant officials have also been consulted.

The law minister said convicted prisoners are provided treatment at government hospitals. He added that many prisoners in different jails are also facing medical and other problems.

He said the government is approaching the Supreme Court to clear some issues in the order.

According to him, some legal points need further clarification so there is no confusion about how the order should be implemented.

Tarar said the government is also reviewing the other directions given by the Supreme Court. The authorities are looking at all these points from a legal perspective.

He added that the relevant authorities believe some parts of the order need more clarity regarding the law and existing procedures. This is why the government has decided to seek a review.

Through the review petition, the government will present its position before the Supreme Court. It will also seek clarification on the points where it has legal concerns.

SC order on Imran Khan’s hospital transfer

The Supreme Court had ordered that Imran Khan be moved to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad for medical examination and treatment.

The court had also ordered the formation of a special medical board and sought his complete medical record. It also issued directions about meetings with his family and other facilities.
