Web desk: Pakistan has carried out precision strikes on the hideouts of the Gul Bahadur group in Afghanistan’s border areas near North and South Waziristan, security sources confirmed on Friday.
According to the sources, militants from the Gul Bahadur faction, operating from inside Afghanistan, attempted multiple terrorist attacks inside Pakistan over the past 48 hours.
These attacks were successfully foiled by Pakistani security forces through timely and effective action.
In the past two days, more than 100 militants have been killed as a result of the operations, the sources said.
Earlier today, the Gul Bahadur group carried out a vehicle-borne attack in North Waziristan, in which one Pakistani soldier embraced martyrdom and several others sustained injuries.
The retaliatory operations against the group were conducted with high precision, targeting key militant hideouts and leadership positions.
According to confirmed intelligence reports, more than 60 members of the group, including senior commanders, were eliminated in these precision strikes.
Pakistani forces launched precision strikes on the group’s positions, including its leadership hideouts.
Based on confirmed intelligence, 60 to 70 militants, including key commanders, were neutralised in these strikes.
According to reports, the strikes targeted multiple Taliban positions across the border. Pakistan respected the 48-hour ceasefire and responded only after provocations from the Afghan side, officials said.
The operation was conducted in line with international law after repeated cross-border violations by Afghan Taliban elements. Sources said the strikes were launched in response to the Taliban’s attempts to infiltrate Pakistani territory.
Officials added that the Pakistan Army remains fully prepared to defend the country’s borders and respond to any aggression. The ceasefire, which had temporarily reduced tensions, officially ended earlier today.
Eyewitnesses reported heavy exchanges of fire in the border areas, while videos circulating online appear to show Pakistani forces targeting militant positions.
Security forces have stated that the operation aims to eliminate terrorist hideouts and prevent further incursions into Pakistani territory.
Previously, the claims that the Pakistani Delegation had left for Doha were also denied by the security sources.
They dismissed claims that a Pakistani delegation has already arrived in Doha, clarifying that the delegation is still in Pakistan and scheduled to leave for the Qatari capital later.
Afghan Taliban Regime Asks Qatar to Mediate with Pakistan
The Afghan Taliban regime has approached the Qatari government to request its assistance in mediating talks with Pakistan.
Diplomatic sources said the Afghan interim government formally asked Qatar to help open communication channels with Islamabad. In response, Qatari officials have relayed Kabul’s message to the Government of Pakistan.
Pakistan acknowledged Qatar’s role as a “brotherly country.” Pakistan has repeated that dialogue with the Afghan Taliban regime will only be possible if Afghanistan guarantees that its territory will not be used for terrorist activities against Pakistan.
